An interesting event in THE FACT 2020 was the “ TMA Popularity Award ” of Leeteuk , leader of Super Junior reaction to what they get.
Super Junior is a veteran group who made its debut in 2005 and despite they are expected to make a comeback next month, they were inactive in 2020. Despite all this backdrop, they managed to surpass BTS in votes to won the “TMA Popularity Award” at THE FACT Music Awards held on December, 12th, 2020. This award was determined by fan votes only, and Super Junior (albeit narrowly) beat hugely popular BTS . Super Junior’s leader Leeteuk delivered a graceful and humble appreciation speech:
“As a group made their debut long long time ago and for being inactive in 2020, receiving a popularity award for a group is both a bit interesting and embarrassing. We thank all our fans around the world for their support at TMA – THE FACT awards every year. This year has passed passively for us. But they still did not spare their support. Please look forward to our 10th album, which will be released very soon“.
Super Junior’s 10th album “Renaissance” will be released in early 2021 (with a month’s delay). Later this week, they shared ambitious promotional photos (see here) that match the title of the album.
Super Junior received four awards in the competition (rewards list).
Remarkably, Heechul was on stage, too.
