Jungkook shared with us the story of “how his shyness started” in an interview with Japanese FC Magazine titled “ My Biography (Life Story) “.
We know that when Jungkook joined BTS, he was pretty shy; but in the biography of Jungkook in this post, we find out why this is not always the case, and why it happened later on and who has provided him with great support.
“ I was a very lively and a bit mischievous child; I liked to wander around and play, much more than sitting in the classroom. I really hated studying. That’s why I always got into trouble with my mother.”
As a young star candidate, he wasn’t sure what his true dream was even when he was auditioning for to be singer candidate:
“You may think that I dreamed of being a singer from a young age. But even when I was participating in the auditions, I did not know what my goal or my dream was. I attended the auditions to see what it was like. I also participated to have some fun “.
However, when Jungkook arrived at the audition area, he was overwhelmed by the crowd he saw:
“When I came to the area where the auditions were held, I was startled by that big crowd. I was tense, almost contracted when I was trapped by so many strangers. I think that my shyness may have started from this moment when there are many people that I do not know around me “.
This shyness followed Jungkook until he joined Big Hit Entertainment and met his current bandmates. During his apprenticeship, Jungkook was so shy that he only used the bathroom after his bandmates slept.
We learn that Taehyung helped Jungkook a lot to get rid of shyness at that period. See what Jungkook tells about V :
“After V joined the group, my shyness problem decreased significantly. Taehyung and I have similar personalities. V helped me break my shell, thanks. The closer I got to V, the more I started to like him”.
We recently observed to a degree the shyness of Jungkook in their America release earlier this year. During the iHeartRadio Live interview on January 27, 2020 , BTS members had to sit very close to their fans. American fans were noisy, screaming and exuberant. On top of that, members of BTS , except for RM , have limited proficiency of English language, which can be thought as a substantial handicap. The fact that Jungkook hesitated whether or not to sit down at the beginning for a minute of so, his “shrinking” into his chair, not talking too much, revealed images parallel to what he told above. Meanwhile, V was also sitting on the sidelines very timidly. It is almost as if confirming that Jungkook said “We are very similar” for V. But look what did happen towards the end; V was coming into play again. He urged Jungkook to join to the dance of J-Hope. Some things do not change over the years. Meanwhile, the year of 2020 has been a period in which BTS went global and members made significant progress in adapting to it. And who knows what would have happened without pandemic? I think a lot has changed in the past ten months. For example, looking at the “My Time” performance of Jungkook at the online concert ON:E , it does not seem like he has a problem of shyness at all!
Actually, this should not be forgotten: For Jungkook , sitting during an interview and performing on the stage are very different two things. Jungkook is an artist who listen the voices of the audience by taking out his ear monitor. He likes to integrate with his audience. He’s not shy at all when he’s on stage. He is a real artist. As soon as the music commences, all other feelings for real artists end, only art remains.
