Jin’s first question is that Jimin were both working on Dis-ease while trying to produce the song Christmas Love. He asks if the process was complicated or challenging for him.
Jimin: Whenever inspiration strikes, I need to work, I think I work a little free.
Jin: Do you write the lyrics or the melody first? Or rhythm comes first, then do you add the words?
Jimin: Until now, the rhythm had come to my mind first. However, for the BE album, I first focused on keywords. I processed the keywords with melody and words. I thought that might be nice.
Jin: Let’s talk about dis-ease. You wrote the bridge parts of this song. What were your important contributions to the song?
Jimin: I made the bridge parts of the melody. I didn’t like that the bridge part was empty during recording. The producer asked if I liked this episode, would you repeat it? I tried to say it and we combined it. The producer said this is not bad, let’s work on it. As a result, my melody was used, I am very pleased with it.
As Jin: PM you have seen all the members’ work for the BE album. What’s interesting or difficult about working as a PM?
Jimin: The fun side of being a PM is that everyone has a lot of ideas, this diversity of ideas made me think: “Which theme should we try? The idea of telepathy was very refreshing. While I was brainstorming, Taehyung and others came up with a variety of ideas. My work was not compelling.
Jin: If you were more specific and clear, what was the most challenging part? Like Suga saying his opinion directly to the A & R unit without asking you.
Jimin: This may have forced the A & R unit, not me. I think it was the biggest challenge that people didn’t do their jobs on time.
Jin: They speak of a woman singing the choir part of Life Goes On, not you. Have you heard of that?
Jimin: I didn’t think this was a big deal. PD and I were talking that it might be good for a female vocal to enter the song. But we didn’t really have a plan to find a vocal. PD said you tell this part, your voice will be better. This became my voice.
Jin: What was the most edited song during production?
Jimin: “Life Goes On”. You had to feel ready to sing the choir part. I wanted to say after all the members have finished the audio recording. He forced to say the “Like an echo …” part. Look, it forced you too Jin …
Taehyung’s song “Blue & Gray” was challenging while singing for both. They interpret that high tones are too high, and low tones are too low. Telepathy was challenging for Jimin, while for Blue & Gray was challenging for Jin. It was challenging due to the low tones. They think none of these songs are easy.
Jin: Before singing, what are you doing to keep yourself in shape?
Jimin: I’m drinking water. I use a humidifier while sleeping. I don’t drink, alcohol is drying my throat.
When asked what Jin had been through as a PM, Jimin said:
Everyone was passionate about the album. The members’ desire to participate in certain things motivated me. I wanted to work harder and help with the issues they asked questions. I also wanted to make good music.
Jin: What motivated you in the song Christmas Love?
Jimin: I wanted to present a gift to our fans. Christmas Love was another challenge for me. The melody came to mind, but the words were not clear yet. I did not know what approach to take. I had 5 days left and I was about to give up. I couldn’t ask Namjoon or other members for help. Because we were all very tired. Some members were not feeling well. At that time, Namjoon called me. He sent the lyrics for the first part. I saw the words and thought that I should do this because he wrote words to me with this intensity. Although I had a job the next day, I worked all day. I worked from 9 o’clock until 4 o’clock in the morning without sleep. I’ve finished all the words. I spoke to Namjoon. I finished the registration job in two days. Song and songwriter Slow Rabbit worked hard.
Jin: At the same time, V released a Christmas song. His is a calmer melody, yours is more cheerful. I like the merry Christmas songs more. This doesn’t mean V’s bad, of course. Both are very good songs.
Jimin says “I think I haven’t tried new things. I got a lot of help in my work. I want to try new music in the future without limits, restrictions. I’d like to try an acoustic-style song, like Taehyung’s retro pop disco ballad in “Blue & amp; Gray.”
