Jimin Name, Family, Childhood, Character

Park Ji-min (박지민), referred to as Jimin (지민), is a South Korean singer, dancer, and songwriter. He is the lead vocalist and main dancer of BTS. He is the last member to join BTS with the shortest training time.

Ji-min, also spelled jee-min, is a Korean unisex name given mainly to women. Ji-min was South Korea’s third most popular name given to girls in 2008.

Jimin attended a boys only Christian school. Although Jimin has not directly mentioned his faith, ARMY members know that he studied at a Catholic or a Christian school when he was young.

He thinks his personality is similar to RM and J-Hope.

Jimin thinks his ability to laugh and also hi unique gazes are his attractive characteristics.

Jimin has a black belt in Taekwondo.

Early Life and Education

Jimin was born in Busan, Geumjeong District, South Korea. Jimin has a brother two years younger than him. THe is known to be really close with his brother. Jimin’s parents previously owned a cafe in Busan that was often visited by fans.

He attended Busan’s Hodong Elementary School and Yonsgan Middle School as a child. He went to Just Dance Academy during middle school. Before becoming a trainee, Jimin studied contemporary dance at the Busan School of the Arts. He was the best student in the modern dance department. He auditioned for an idol-breeding agency, following the suggestion of a teacher, and this cut his paths with Big Hit Entertainment. After being successful in his audition in 2012, he transferred to Korea Art High School to graduate in 2014. Jimin is currently enrolled at Global Cyber ​​University. When he first moved to Seoul, Jimin said he knew he was speaking with a Busan accent. He expressed in an interview that he wanted to be a singer or a policeman when he grew up and “If I were less interested in singing, I would be a cop”.

Jimin acts as the main dancer and lead vocalist in the group.

Solo tracks of him under BTS are “Lie” and “Serendipity“. The song “Lie” was released in 2016 in the Wings album, which was striking and dramatic in general. “Lie” had dark undertones and emotions that helped reflect the overall concept of the album. In their latest album “Map of the Soul: 7” released in 2020, the solo track with latin-pop rhythm “Filter“, Jimin presents himself as a flexible stage figure who can shine in any role: “I could be your genie / How about Aladdin?”  and “I will be what you want me to be”.

Solo Studies (out of BTS)

In 2014, Jimin collaborated with his bandmate from BTS and close friend Jungkook for “Christmas Day”, a Korean rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe“. The Korean lyrics of the piece were written by Jimin. Later, Jimin collaborated with Jungkook again by preparing the cover piece of “We Don’t Talk Anymore “, released on June 2, 2017, featuring a duet by Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez.

Jimin participated in various shows such as Hello Counselor, Please Take Care of My Refrigerator and God’s Workplace in 2016. Jimin ranked ninth among the most tweeted celebrities in 2018 and eighth among the world’s most tweeted musicians. He was voted 17th by The Guardian, one of the best boy band members in history.

From January to May 2018, Jimin won the monthly Peeper x Billboard Award for “Best K-Pop Artist – Individual”.

In 2018, a fifth grade Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit was awarded by the President of South Korea along with other members of the group.

In 2019, she received a plaque from the Cultural Preservation Association for performing buchaechum, a traditional Korean fan dance, during the 2018 Melon Music Awards, and an award for helping spread the dance outside of Korea.

He has a habit of dancing whenever any music plays.

Using eyeliner is very important for him. He is ashamed to think that without eyeliner, he cannot dance or have strong expressions.

He likes to wear accessories such as earrings, bracelets and rings. There are five ear holes, two on the right and two on the left.
