GOT7 JB (JAY B) took a photo shoot for the April issue of Arena Homme Plus and gave out an comprehensive interview. In the interview, he talked about his solo debut after leaving JYP Entertainment and the future of GOT7.
“We all shared our ideas about going out together and doing something on our own” said. “I took responsibility for the whole process with the new record label and we recently released the Encore single. I was proud to do something different than I did before. The single showed that we didn’t break up, so the next step is even more important. When we leave JYP, the CEO Jung Wook told me, “The real work of the leader begins here. I understood the truth of his words.”
When I was working as a member of GOT7, I often wondered if I could reap the benefits of this. I found myself wondering how much work needs to be done before arriving at a scheduled event. I wanted to participate directly in the process of the work. I wanted to know every step of the process of making albums, songs, and exactly how difficult it was. I started from the bottom, I wanted to be humble. Of course I needed a lot of courage. I was standing in a certain position, but the amount of information I had was limited and I was afraid that if I left the agency it would be too big to overcome this gap. However, I knew that if I stayed the difference would widen further, so I decided to dive into where I am now as soon as possible
I want to present a hip hop / R & B style through JAY B. I want it as Def. It’s a b-boying name I used before I was an intern, so I can publish mixtapes under that name or open a photo exhibition or do some other fictional work, as I’ve done so far. I want to work in both what I have to do and what I want to do. “
