Gaon Chart announced their latest official certification. In 2018, the Korean Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, online uploading and streaming of albums. Artists who have reached 250,000 album sales after January 1, 2018 receive platinum certification, while the albums that have reached 1 million sales earn the “million” certificate.

On April 8, 2021, TWICE “Eyes Wide Open” and TXT “minisode1: Blue Hour” earned platinum, surpassing 500,000 sales, and SHINee “Don’t Call Me” surpassing 250,000.

The songs go platinum when they reach 2.5 million downloads. Chungha’s “Gotta Go”, Taeyeon’s “Four Seasons” and BTS’s “Boy With Luv” received platinum certifications.

In online streaming, songs that reach 100 million online streams receive platinum certification. Maktub’s “To You My Light” and AKMU’s “How can I love the heartbreak, you are the one I love” reached 200 million online streams and earned platinum. BLACKPINK “How You Like That”, Sandeul “Slightly Tipsy”, Oh My Girl “Dolphin”, IU “Give You My Heart” and Maroon 5 “Memories” went platinum.
